It is with regret that we learned of the death of former councillor John New, who retired two years ago due to ill health. Our sincere sympathy is extended to his wife and family. Parish Council - Of the three people who put their names forward for the vacant seat on the parish council, Mrs Margaret Lindley was co-opted onto the council. A warm welcome to her. Many thanks to the other residents who showed an interest – Peter Cairns and Laurance Huxtable. First Buses have decreased the frequency of buses between Finningley and Doncaster, these are now hourly during the working day. South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive have told us that the times are up to the individual bus companies and that “First are reporting significant decline in use saying they can no longer support the level of service previously provided.” Police PACT meetings are held regularly to highlight areas of concern. Subsequent action by the police has had good results in reducing local crime. Village Hall – The ongoing refurbishment
of the village hall is now at its final stage. Using an old photo
and drawings for reference, a new door has been fitted to the outside
of the main hall. A replica bronze bell has now been installed on
the roof in keeping with original features.
