Finningley Parish Council

Newsletter March 2010

During the arctic conditions of early January, it was pleasing to see that the ducks still had some water in which to swim, though most of the pond was frozen over. Even after the snow had all gone, in the middle of the pond there was still an iceberg on which they were walking.

Seeing so many sledges and snowmen about showed that many people were enjoying the snow, though that kind of weather is not to everyone’s taste. One further good thing about it, my lawn looked as good as anyone else’s until the thaw!

The police continue to visit our village, resulting in a low crime rate for our area, for which we are all grateful. Long may they keep ‘showing the uniform’.

Following repeated protests by the parish council and others, First bus company have relented and given us back our half-hourly service from the start of February.

The parish council is pleased to report that the precept (the part of the council tax required for upkeep of the village) for 2010-2011 has been maintained at the same level for the 7th consecutive year.
